Design Thinking Across Boundaries: Reimagining Education in a Changing World
In a rapidly evolving world, education is no longer merely a one-way transmission of knowledge, but rather an innovative practice centered on Design Thinking. Through needs insight, prototype experimentation, and iterative improvement, it continuously reconstructs learning experiences and social value. This international symposium, jointly organized by the Taiwan Society for Innovative Interdisciplinary Education, Taiwan Design Research Institute, and multiple universities, cordially invites designers, scholars, educators, and interdisciplinary practitioners to focus on the convergence of "Design × Education × Social Impact" and explore human-centered pathways for educational transformation.
This conference focuses on four key themes to address the diverse challenges facing contemporary education:
1. Transform: Design-Driven Organizational Innovation
Educational institutions integrate design thinking through human-centered insights, rapid prototyping, and interdisciplinary project systems to reshape governance, curriculum, and service processes, validating effectiveness through Lean Startup methodologies and real-world field practices. This theme will focus on interdisciplinary project frameworks, lean startup methods, and resource integration strategies, exploring how to cultivate students' problem definition and solving capabilities while building future-oriented resilient organizational cultures.
2. Transmute: Learning Communities and Knowledge Integration
Artistic practice uses the body and environment as interfaces, interweaving with technology, humanities, and local knowledge within the design thinking framework to generate dynamic cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaborative learning communities. This theme will focus on applied theatre, experiential curricula, and body dialogue strategies, exploring how to construct shareable and iterative collective intelligence ecosystems supported by careful operations and feedback mechanisms for long-term knowledge integration and community resilience.
3. Translocate: Global Perspectives and Local Impact
At the intersection of global sustainability agendas and local needs, educational initiatives must leverage co-creation and design research to transform diverse cultural experiences into concrete social impact. This theme will focus on cross-cultural collaborative teaching, overseas workshops, and local field co-creation, exploring how to strengthen educational accessibility through Glocal Design and establish sustainable reciprocal mechanisms.
4. Transpose: Technological Tools and Teaching Innovation
Technological tools are rapidly refreshing the toolkit for interdisciplinary curricula. When teachers design learning contexts through multi-sensory experiences, data-driven platforms, and field prototyping, how should students transform their roles through practice and reflection? And how should interdisciplinary knowledge connections be evaluated? This theme focuses on three major dimensions: sensory artistic methods, VR, and field prototype testing, discussing how these emerging tools reshape curriculum design, enhance interdisciplinary learning effectiveness, and create new opportunities for teacher professional development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
